Troops intercept 17 cattle allegedly grazing on farms in Plateau

Troops of Sector 8, Sub-Sector 81, Operation SAFE HAVEN, have intercepted 17 cattle allegedly grazing on farmlands belonging to Ibrahim Ipamda and five other farmers in Akusha Village, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 3, 2026, following a report of farm destruction in the community.
According to security sources, the troops deployed at Chanso swiftly responded to the report and proceeded to the affected location.
On arrival, the troops intercepted the 17 cattle grazing on the farms without any herder in sight.
The cattle were subsequently moved to the troops’ location at Chanso for safekeeping.
Security personnel have contacted local cattle breeders’ leaders to assist in identifying the owners of the cattle for appropriate action.
The development comes amid ongoing efforts by security agencies to prevent clashes between farmers and herders and safeguard agricultural activities across communities in Plateau State.
