Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have intercepted 38 cattle allegedly grazing on farms belonging to two residents of Ta-Hoss Community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 28, 2026, following a report of farm destruction involving properties belonging to Mr Pawajok John and Mr Toma Davou.
The troops of Sector 6 OPEP reportedly responded to the incident and, upon arrival at the location, intercepted the 38 cattle grazing on the farms without their herders.
The livestock were subsequently moved to a safe location for necessary action.
Security sources said the intervention was aimed at preventing further destruction of crops and addressing the situation to avoid possible escalation of tensions in the community.
The incident comes amid ongoing efforts by Operation Enduring Peace to address recurring disputes involving farmers and herders, protect livelihoods and maintain peace in Plateau State.
Authorities are expected to take appropriate action regarding the intercepted livestock.
