Troops of Sector 6 under Operation Enduring Peace have intercepted seven cows grazing on a farmland in Gako community of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Security sources disclosed that the troops responded to a report of illegal grazing and destruction of farmland in the area at about 6:15 p.m. on May 23.

The sources said the troops, on arrival at the scene, discovered seven cows grazing unattended without a herder.

The cattle were subsequently moved to a safe location for necessary action.

However, the owner of the cattle was later identified as one Babawo Salisu from Fass community in Riyom LGA.

According to the sources, the cattle were later handed over to the owner after he was warned against allowing his livestock to roam without supervision.

The troops also cautioned him to desist from acts capable of causing tension or disputes within farming communities in the area.

Operation Enduring Peace has continued to intensify efforts aimed at preventing conflicts between farmers and herders as part of measures to sustain peace in Plateau and neighbouring states.
