Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in the North East have neutralised unconfirmed numbers of  Boko Haram terrorists in an encounter at Ngowom in Mafa Local Government of Borno.

The insurgents were killed, while moving in a convoy of 20 motorcycles from the Northern part of the state to the Mafa axis, while on their way to Sambisa forest.

An Intelligence Sources told Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad that the troops achieved the feat while acting on credible intelligence that terrorists were moving towards the Mafa axis.

The troops in collaboration with the government backed militia also known as Civilian Joint Task Force laid an ambush for the terrorists and instantly, neutralised mamy of them.

A counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, in Maiduguri, yesterday, said that the troops also captured one terrorist alive, while others fled with gunshot wounds.

"The ambush had triggered a heavy gunfight between us. They later retreated and attempted fleeing but we chased them and as a result, we killed many of them. Many others also escaped with bullet wounds," the sources said.

He explained that two members of the CJTF were wounded during a hot exchange of fire while weapons and motorcycles were recovered from the terrorists.
