Troops, NDLEA Arrest 12 Suspected Drug Peddlers in Yobe

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested 12 suspected illicit drug peddlers during a joint raid in Damagun Market, Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation was conducted at about 2:00 p.m. on August 23, 2026, by troops of 233 Battalion Quick Reaction Force in conjunction with the NDLEA Potiskum Area Command.
Security sources said the operation was based on intelligence on suspected illicit drug activities in the market.
The joint team arrested 12 suspects and recovered assorted illicit drugs during the operation.
The suspects and recovered exhibits were handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and necessary legal action.
The troops returned to base at about 5:15 p.m. after the successful operation.
The operation underscores the growing collaboration between the military and drug enforcement authorities to disrupt illicit drug networks that can provide a support base for criminal and terrorist activities in the North-East.
The Joint Task Force said the general security situation across the theatre remained calm but unpredictable, while troops maintained satisfactory morale and fighting efficiency.
