Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist who attempted to approach a military position in Borno State under suspicious circumstances.

Military sources disclosed on Wednesday that the incident occurred in the early hours of June 3 at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Chabbol, operated by the 199 Special Forces Battalion.

According to the sources, personnel on sentry duty observed an unidentified individual moving towards the military location at about 2:35 a.m.

The troops reportedly challenged the individual and ordered him to halt for identification and security checks.

However, the suspect allegedly ignored repeated warnings and continued advancing toward the military position, prompting the troops to engage him in line with established force protection procedures.

“The intruder refused to comply with orders to stop and was consequently engaged and neutralised by the sentries,” the sources said.

The sources note that terrorist groups operating in the North-East have, in the past, attempted to infiltrate military positions for surveillance, attacks or intelligence-gathering purposes, making strict adherence to force protection measures critical.
