Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have neutralised a Boko Haram terrorist and recovered assorted logistics supplies during a strangulation operation in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Military sources told Zagazola that the operation was conducted by troops of 144 Battalion under Sector 4 of Operation HADIN KAI following credible intelligence on logistics items allegedly dropped for terrorists at Hyambula area in Madagali LGA.
The sources said the troops, who laid ambush at the location, made contact with an unconfirmed number of terrorists at about 4:15 a.m. on May 10 while the insurgents were attempting to evacuate the supplies.
According to the sources, the troops engaged the terrorists in a firefight, forcing them to flee the area.
“During exploitation of the general area at first light, troops discovered that one Boko Haram terrorist had been neutralised,” the source said.
The troops also recovered one AK-47 rifle with five magazines containing 35 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, as well as one mobile phone.
Other items recovered at the scene included 38 packs of spaghetti, 10 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), two cartons of Gramazole, one carton of Peak milk, 10 loaves of bread, one carton of seasoning cubes, 18 bottles of energy drinks, four motorcycle tyre pumps, two motorcycle tubes, 19 sachets of herbicide and five measures of sugar.
Military authorities said the operation was part of sustained strangulation and interdiction efforts aimed at disrupting terrorist logistics networks and cutting off supplies to insurgent enclaves across the North-East theatre.
The sources added that troops had continued to maintain aggressive operational posture within the theatre to dominate their areas of responsibility and deny terrorists freedom of action.
According to the military, the general security situation across the theatre remained calm but unpredictable, while troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remained high.
