Troops of the Nigerian Army have recovered 41 suspected rustled cattle after engaging suspected cattle rustlers at Yan Likwi Village in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. on October 30, 2026, when troops of 3 Brigade responded to intelligence on the movement of suspected terrorists from Katsina State into Kano State with suspected stolen cattle.
The sources said troops intercepted and engaged the suspects at Yan Likwi Village, forcing them to flee and abandon the livestock.
Following the encounter, troops recovered all 41 cattle, which were subsequently taken into military custody for further action.
The operation forms part of ongoing security efforts to disrupt cattle rustling networks, prevent the movement of stolen livestock across state boundaries and protect rural communities in the North-West.
