Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recovered fragments of an explosive device for forensic examination and arrested 12 suspected drug peddlers during a series of raids on criminal hideouts in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the explosive fragments were recovered from the scene of an earlier security incident and have been preserved for further forensic analysis to aid ongoing investigations.
In a separate operation, troops conducted intelligence-led raids on identified criminal hideouts in Monguno, leading to the arrest of 12 suspected drug peddlers.
During the operation, troops recovered assorted illicit drugs, including cannabis, tramadol and other prohibited substances, believed to have been destined for criminal elements operating within the area.
The suspects and the recovered exhibits have been taken into custody for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Military sources said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts by Operation HADIN KAI to combat drug trafficking and other criminal activities that sustain insurgent and criminal networks in the North-East. They added that troops will continue intelligence-driven operations aimed at disrupting both terrorist logistics and illicit drug distribution across the theatre.
