Troops of the 25 Brigade, Operation HADIN KAI in collaboration with local vigilantes, have recovered two Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) bombs and 150 rounds of ammunition during a fighting patrol in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was conducted at about 11:00 a.m. on June 1 following intelligence reports of a clash between rival terrorist factions in the area.
According to the sources, the patrol covered Baale, Alagarno, Maisaimari, Yadimari and Shiwari villages, where troops observed that the communities were deserted with no signs of human activity.
The sources said that during the operation, troops recovered two RPG bombs and 150 packets of 7.62 x 54mm ammunition in Baale village.
A security source said the recovery formed part of ongoing efforts to exploit areas affected by terrorist infighting and deny criminal elements access to weapons and operational space.
“The absence of civilians in the affected villages suggests displacement likely linked to recent clashes between rival terrorist groups in the general area,” the source said.
The source added that troops have continued to dominate the area with patrols aimed at stabilising the environment and preventing further attacks on nearby communities.
Security authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining clearance operations across Borno State as part of broader efforts to restore normalcy in conflict-affected areas.
Investigations and follow-up operations are ongoing.
