Troops Recover Three Rustled Cattle in Plateau, Hunt Suspected Herder

Troops of Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have recovered three cattle out of 60 rustled animals belonging to a resident of Amnat village in Mupun District of Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Zagazola that the incident occurred on August 23, 2026, when troops deployed under Operation HARD KNOCK responded to a report of cattle rustling involving 60 cattle belonging to one Homfrey Jigo.
Following the report, the troops immediately commenced search-and-recovery operations to trace the stolen livestock.
The troops subsequently tracked the footprints of the cattle to Lawet/Lamor Fulani camps in Pushit District, where three of the rustled cattle were found at the residence of one Nuru Yajako, a herder who was not present at the time of the operation.
The recovered cattle were subsequently taken into custody and handed over to the owner.
Security personnel have intensified efforts to apprehend Yajako and recover the remaining 57 cattle still missing.
The operation is part of ongoing security efforts to tackle cattle rustling and other forms of criminality in Plateau State while protecting the livelihoods of farmers and livestock owners.
Security sources said efforts would continue until the remaining cattle are recovered and those responsible for the incident are brought to justice.
