Troops repel gunmen attack in Taraba, recover weapons

Troops of the 93 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have repelled an attack by unknown gunmen on Majebiyu village in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Sources said that the incident occurred at about 1:40 p.m. on Thursday when the gunmen invaded the community, shooting sporadically and seizing motorcycles from locals.
According to the sources, the troops, in collaboration with local vigilantes, swiftly mobilised to the area and engaged the assailants in a brief gun duel.
It stated that the troops’ superior firepower forced the attackers to flee into a nearby bush with possible gunshot wounds.
No casualties or injuries were recorded on the side of the troops, while the number of casualties among the gunmen could not be immediately confirmed.
Items recovered from the scene included five locally-made guns and two motorcycles reportedly stolen from villagers.
