Troops Repel Suspected Gunmen, Arrest One During Patrol in Plateau

Troops of Sector 5 of Operation Enduring Peace in collaboration with local vigilantes, have repelled suspected armed gunmen and arrested one suspect during a fighting patrol in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Military sources disclosed that the operation was conducted between 7:10 a.m. and 6:10 p.m. on June 8 and covered Hokk, Pankap and Folkodep villages within the local government area.

According to the sources, troops came into contact with suspected armed Fulani gunmen during the patrol. The suspects reportedly fled the area following the troops’ superior firepower and aggressive manoeuvres.

Following the encounter, troops carried out further exploitation of the general area to prevent the regrouping of the fleeing suspects and to gather additional intelligence.

During the follow-up operation, one suspect was apprehended and taken into custody for further investigation.

Security sources said efforts are ongoing to establish the suspect’s identity and possible links to criminal activities within the area.

The operation forms part of sustained efforts by security forces to curb attacks, protect vulnerable communities and maintain peace across Plateau State.

Military authorities reiterated their commitment to continued offensive and intelligence-driven operations aimed at denying criminal elements freedom of action within the state and its environs.
