Troops Rescue 101 Kidnapped Victims in Katsina, Zamfara, Neutralise 10 Terrorists

Troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with the Air Component of the Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued 101 kidnapped victims in Katsina and Zamfara States while neutralising 10 terrorists in separate operations.

The operations, conducted on March 17 and 18, targeted terrorist hideouts in Kankara Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State and Shinkafi and Maradun LGAs in Zamfara State.

A statement from the military on Wednesday confirmed that in Katsina, troops launched a deliberate assault on a terrorists’ enclave at Pauwa High Ground in Kankara, leading to the elimination of three terrorists and the rescue of 84 kidnapped victims. The rescued individuals were handed over to local government authorities for further care.

Similarly, in Zamfara, acting on intelligence reports, troops stormed the Bagabuzu area of Faru District in Maradun LGA, neutralising seven terrorists and recovering a motorcycle and other items. The operation also led to the rescue of 17 kidnapped victims from Tsibiri and Doka villages in Shinkafi LGA. The victims are currently receiving medical attention at a local hospital.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the security of communities in Katsina and Zamfara States and urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperative.

Operation Fansan Yamma continues to intensify efforts against terrorism, emphasizing the importance of public support in achieving lasting peace in the region.
