Troops rescue four kidnapped victims after terrorist attack on vehicle in Zamfara

Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued four civilians after responding to an attack on a vehicle along the Gusau–Sokoto road in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 2:15 p.m. on Sept. 24, 2026, when troops of Counter-Terrorism 4 at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Fangaltama responded to a distress call concerning the attack.
The troops engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee into the surrounding bushes.
The four civilian occupants of the vehicle were subsequently rescued by the troops.
The rescued victims were secured by the troops, while efforts are expected to continue to track the fleeing attackers and prevent further attacks along the busy Gusau–Sokoto corridor.
