Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have rescued a kidnapped victim and foiled fresh terrorist attacks in Sabuwa and Kankara Local Government Areas of Katsina State.
Zagazola learnt that Mallam Urwatu Adamu, who was kidnapped on Sept. 1 at Maitsiga village, was rescued during a patrol by troops at FOB Malali in Kankara. He has since been reunited with local authorities.
Troops also engaged terrorists who attacked Ungwuan Dauda village in Sabuwa LGA. Although one vigilante lost his life in the firefight, the terrorists were forced to retreat without further damage.
The Theatre Commander, Operation FANSAN YANMA, Maj.-Gen. OO Soyele, visited troops at FOB Mabai in Kankara and later at FOB Faskari, to assess their readiness for special joint operations with Defence Special Operations Forces.
“The visit was to reassure the troops of high command’s commitment and to boost their morale ahead of upcoming clearance operations,” sources said.
Soyele also emphasised the importance of securing farming communities in Katsina, where terrorist incursions have disrupted livelihoods.
