Troops of the 65 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilantes, have rescued two kidnapped victims in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Zagazola Makama reports that the victims, identified as Mr Kelvin Okafor and Alex Anato, were abducted while working on their farm around Igbonla in Epe LGA.

Following information on the incident, the security team responded to the area and encountered the kidnappers while they were holding the victims.

On sighting the approaching troops and other security personnel, the kidnappers abandoned the victims and fled into the surrounding forest.

The team pursued the fleeing suspects, during which one of the kidnappers was neutralised, while two others escaped into the bush.

The rescued victims were found unhurt and subsequently handed over to the Police for further necessary action.

The remains of the neutralised suspect were also handed over to the Police for further investigation and other necessary procedures.

The successful operation underscores the importance of prompt information sharing and coordinated efforts among security agencies and local communities in tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities.
