Troops rescue two kidnapped victims, recover AK-47 rifle in Ogun

Troops of 12 Field Engineering Regiment have rescued two kidnapped victims and recovered an AK-47 rifle following an attack by armed criminals in Ogun State.

The incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 1, 2026, when troops responded to intelligence regarding an attack by seven armed men on Araromi Community, near Ijebu-Ijesha in Odogbolu Local Government Area.

According to security sources, the troops swiftly mobilised to the area and pursued the criminals.

The troops engaged the attackers, forcing them to abandon two kidnapped victims and flee into the surrounding area.

The troops subsequently recovered one AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine and one empty case of 7.62mm Special ammunition.

One of the rescued victims sustained a gunshot wound and was evacuated to Babcock University Teaching Hospital for medical attention, while both victims were placed under appropriate care.

Security forces have continued efforts to track the fleeing criminals and strengthen security around vulnerable communities in the area.
