Troops respond to cattle rustling incident in Plateau, launch manhunt

Troops under Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have responded to a reported cattle rustling incident in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources said the incident was reported at about 6:45 p.m. on April 15, 2026, in Kadunu community.
According to the sources, troops of Sector 8, Sub-sector 81 deployed at Gyambwas swiftly moved to the scene following the report.
However, no contact was made with the perpetrators as they had fled before the arrival of the troops.
The sources added that efforts are ongoing to track down the suspects and recover the rustled cattle, while security presence has been reinforced in the area to prevent further incidents.
