Troops of 1 Brigade Combat Team 2 under the Operation FANSAN YAMMA have responded to multiple terrorist incidents in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The troops were mobilised at about 1000 hours on June 20 following reports of a terrorist attack on Jinkirawa village in the area.
Security sources said it was later confirmed that two civilians were abducted during the attack, while another distress call indicated a simultaneous assault on Magarya village in the same local government area.
Troops were subsequently deployed to the affected locations but were reportedly unable to gain access to Magarya due to difficult terrain.
Further information obtained from members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) indicated that one CJTF member sustained a gunshot wound during the incident.
It was also revealed that an explosion suspected to be an improvised explosive device (IED) occurred on a farmland, injuring two civilians.
Due to the difficult terrain, troops were unable to access the exact location of the incident for documentation.
The injured civilians were evacuated to a medical facility for treatment, while troops continued to dominate the general area to deny the terrorists freedom of action.
