Two killed as local gunmen rustle cattle in Plateau

Two persons were killed when suspected local criminals attacked residents and rustled cattle at Kopnale Village in Mangun District of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 12:07 a.m. on Sept. 4, 2026.
According to the sources, troops of Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace, responded to a distress report of an attack and cattle rustling in the community.
The troops, alongside local vigilantes, arrived at the scene and discovered the corpses of two natives bearing gunshot wounds, while the attackers had fled the area.
The sources added that three cattle were also rustled by the criminals during the incident.
The troops are currently conducting offensive operations and a manhunt for the perpetrators in their suspected hideouts.
Security agencies have continued to intensify operations in vulnerable communities across Plateau State to prevent attacks and protect lives and property.
