Two killed, five injured in suspected herdsmen attack in Benue

Two persons have been confirmed dead and five others injured following an attack by suspected herdsmen on Antsa Village, located along the Uniagric Road in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State.
Zagazola Makama gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, at about 1:20 a.m., when the village came under heavy gunfire, causing panic and chaos among residents.
Local sources said the attackers fired sporadically before fleeing the area shortly after. The five injured victims were immediately evacuated to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) in Makurdi for treatment.
The bodies of the two deceased victims have been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for postmortem examination.
As of the time of filing this report, a joint team of security operatives is combing surrounding bushes in a bid to locate and apprehend the fleeing assailants.
