Two people were killed in an attack by Berom Militia at Ta Hoss Community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 9 a.m. on Sept. 14, 2026, when troops of Sector 6, Operation ENDURING PEACE, responded to a report of an attack in the community.
Upon arrival, the troops found two corpses at the scene and discovered that two natives of Mere Community, suspected of carrying out the attack, had been apprehended by villagers.
The suspects were reportedly being threatened with lynching by an angry mob when troops, working with personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Mobile Police, intervened and rescued them.
The Chairman of the Berom Youth Movement, the Gwom of Ta Hoss and other clergymen subsequently addressed the agitated crowd and appealed for calm.
The suspects were later handed over to the DSS for further investigation and appropriate action.
Security personnel have continued to monitor the area to prevent further escalation and maintain peace in the affected community.
