1,542 Borno Indigenes Return from Chad in Voluntary Repatriation Exercise

A total of 1,542 Borno State indigenes who had been displaced by insurgency and took refuge in Chad have voluntarily returned to Nigeria as part of ongoing repatriation efforts.
According to security sources, the second batch of returnees, comprising 92 households, arrived in Banki town, Bama Local Government Area, on February 16 at about 4:00 p.m.
Upon arrival, the returnees were properly profiled upon arrival and have been temporarily accommodated at the Gubio IDP Camp in Maiduguri, pending further arrangements for their relocation to their ancestral communities.
The voluntary repatriation exercise is part of ongoing efforts by the Borno State Government and relevant stakeholders to facilitate the safe return of displaced persons affected by insurgency.
