4 captives escape from ISWAP Prison during gunbattle with Boko Haram

Atleast four captives abducted by the Islamic State of the West African Province(ISWAP), from Maiduguri to Gajiram road since Aug 3, 2022, have regained freedom during the Friday night  inter-rivalry fierce gunbattle at Tumbum Allura and Kangar in Abadam.

 

It was gathered that the captives including a medical personel working with one of the humanitarian agency, broked out from the terrorists prison cell and scampered for safety amidst heavy gun shooting. 

 

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad,that the prisoners  escaped to one of the neighbouring country through the forest.

 

The sources said that the they will be handed over to the authorities for further action.

 

Recalled that a large numbers of the Boko Haram fighters headed by ABU UMAIMAH or BAKOURA DORO and four other commanders stormed the camps of ISWAP at Tumbum Allura and Kangar in the North East of Abadam in Borno state. 

 

The clash which began at about 4pm on Friday at and lasted untill 5 a.m on Saturday, left scores of the fighters killed on both sides.
