Maj. Gen  Abubakar takes over as the new GOC 3Div who doubles as the commander OPSH 

 

Maj. Gen AE Abubakar has officially takes over as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Rukuba who doubles as the commander OPSH Jos plateau stat, the outgoing GOC Maj Gen. AB Ibrahim, while handing over in a brief ceremony held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the command head quarters commended the officers and thanked them for the maximum co-operation he enjoyed, earlier before the handing over ceremony Maj Gen.AB Ibrahim commissioned the standby duty room for soldiers, and he also visited and inspected the army children school which was remodel to see the level of work done so far, and as part of the activities for his handing over and biding farewell to the command he visited soldiers at the parade ground and address them for the last time, he thanked and appreciate their sacrifice for the nation and urge them to continue to work inline with the rules of engagement.

 

It was a colourful ceremony at the Headquarters 3 Division Maxwell Khobe Cantonment and the Headquarters Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) Jos, Plateau state when Major General Abdulsalami Bagudu Ibrahim handed over the mantle of leadership of 3 Division and Joint Task Force Operation OPSH to the New GOC and Commander OPSH, Major General AE Abubakar as the 48th General Officer Commanding 3 Division and 17th Commander OPSH.

 

Addressing the troops, the outgone GOC and Commander OPSH, General Abdulsalami Bagudu remarked that, posting in the military is a norm, he charged the troops to ensure they discharge their responsibilities to the best of their ability as required of the profession. He applauded the professional conduct of personnel during the general election and urged that the standard of regimentation, professionalism and loyalty to the constituted authority must be maintained.

 

General Abdulsalami Bagudu further charged the troops to ensure facilities under their use are well maintained. He noted that, the lots of infrastructural developments witnessed during his leadership will serve the troops better when properly maintained. He thanked all for the roles played to achieve the landmark development in 3 Division and OPSH.

 

In his maiden address, the new GOC and Commander OPSH, Major General AE Abubakar appreciated the Chief of Army Staff, Major General TA Lagbaja for giving him the opportunity to serve in dual capacity as GOC 3 Division and Commander OPSH. He further appreciated the outgone GOC and Commander OPSH for the success and the good reputation brought to the division. He noted the command has made remarkable achievements and promised to build on the successes recorded.

 

General AE Abubakar urged his subordinates to be good followers as he leads by example. He unveiled his vision for 3 Division to include, “Readiness, Synergy and Excellence” which he averred is in tandem with the Chief of Army Staff Command Philosophy “To Transform the Nigerian Army into a Well Trained, Equipped and Highly Motivated Force Towards Achieving our constitutional responsibilities in a joint environment”

 

The GOC further urged the troops to remain committed, resolute, resilient and focused in protection the lives and property of the citizens. He further revealed his readiness to leverage on capacity development of troops, equipment and team work to face and defeat the enemies of peace.

 

Revealing his commitment to work with the sister agencies, stakeholders, government and traditional institutions to achieve success, the GOC said he believed in the collective abilities of all and united efforts to succeed.

 

He paid special tribute to the outgone GOC and affirmed that General Abdulsalami Bagudu displayed exceptional sterling leadership by paying special in the welfare of troops and their family.

 

Highlight of the ceremony include address to troops, signing of Handing and Taking Over notes and Quarter Guard Ceremonies.

 

Maj. Gen AB Ibrahim while handing he said the same co-operation they gave to him they have to give to the new GOC as loyalty is 100% as the have their roles as officers so they should perform their duty the way it suppose to be, as the new GOC also has his own role as the general commanding officer to play, so he urge all of them to continue the good work they been doing and if need be improve on what they are doing and if there are places he did not touch they should do because that is why they are the subordinate commander,"he said.
