Armed men kill village head in Niger

 Unidentified armed men have killed the Sarkin Fulani of Tungan-Madugu in Babanna district of Borgu Local Government Area of Niger.

 

Zagazola Makama learnt that the attackers stormed the residence of the village head, Abu Bani-Gene, 65, in the early hours of Sunday and macheted him to death.

 

His body was later evacuated to the General Hospital, Babanna, where it was deposited for autopsy.

 

Community members said arrangements were being made for his burial according to Islamic rites.

 

Authorities said efforts  are ongoing to track those behind the attack.
