Police confirm release of kidnapped victims in Niger

The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the release of passengers abducted by armed bandits along the Kontagora–Zuru road in Mariga Local Government Area of the state.
The command, in an update to its earlier report on Sunday, said the victims were released unhurt following sustained pursuit of the hoodlums by security operatives.
It stated that efforts were ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing suspects.
The command had earlier reported that a Toyota Corolla conveying passengers from Kontagora to Zuru was intercepted on Saturday evening at Gulbin-Boka village, leading to the abduction of the occupants.
