Army Personnel Arrest Five Suspected Vandals, Recover Truckload of Iron Rods in Lagos

Five suspected vandals have been arrested in Lagos for allegedly stealing iron poles and other materials meant for the construction of telecommunications masts.

The suspects were arrested at about 10:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, and subsequently handed over to the police for investigation.

According to a security report obtained by Zagazola Makama, the suspects were brought to the police station by Lieutenant I. A. Ekwealor, attached to Provost Group 3, 81 Division, Nigerian Army Headquarters, Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The suspects were identified as Mohammed Shaibu, 26; Musa Zakari, 29; Abdullahi Bala, 22; Salisu Musa, 18; and Yahuza Bala, 20.

They were reportedly caught stealing iron poles intended for the construction of telecommunications masts belonging to TYDA COM Limited in the Ashangun area of Lagos.

A truck loaded with suspected stolen iron rods was also recovered from the suspects.

The police said the recovered items had been registered as exhibits, while the suspects remain in custody pending further investigation.

Efforts are ongoing to track down other suspects who reportedly fled the scene.

The Police Command said investigation into the case is continuing.
