Armed bandits have abducted five persons and rustled four cows in Kasheshi Kura village of Birnin Magaji Local Government Area in Zamfara State.
Zagazola Makama gathered that the incident occurred at about 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
The attack may be connected to the activities of one Ibrahim Shaibu, also known as “Gwanda”, a local member of the Community Protection Guard (CPG).
Gwanda had previously assisted members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CTF), popularly known as Hunters, who were deployed to the area but later withdrew.
Sources believe the bandits may have targeted the village due to his affiliation with the security volunteers.
Sources said that efforts are underway to rescue the abducted victims and recover the rustled cattle. Security has also been reinforced in surrounding communities to prevent further incursions.
