Bandits ambush vigilantes in mashegu lga in Niger, killed 13

At least 13 vigilante personnel were killed in an ambush by armed bandits in Magaman Daji Forest, Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State, while several others remain missing.
Sources confirmed that the vigilante team was conducting search and rescue operations for fifteen hostages when the assailants attacked on Thursday.
The ambush is reported to have been sudden and lethal, forcing security agencies to intensify search and rescue efforts in the forested area.
Security forces are continuing operations to locate the missing vigilante members and secure affected communities. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements in the area.
In a separate incident, a mentally unstable man identified as Haruna Adamu attacked residents of Kundu Village in Rafi LGA with a matchet, injuring Bashar Mohammed, Shafiu Adamu, and Jummala Aminu. The assailant was subdued by community members and later died, while the victims received medical treatment at FMC Zungeru.
