Bandits ambush vigilantes, injure four in Zamfara

Suspected armed bandits have ambushed members of a vigilante group, injuring four persons in Kanoma South District of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

 

Sources said the incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on March 27 when the vigilantes were on routine patrol along a known bandits’ route in the area.

 

The source disclosed that the attackers opened fire on the vigilante members during the ambush, leaving four of them injured.

 

“Upon receipt of the report, security personnel visited the scene and the injured victims were evacuated to the Primary Health Care Centre in Kanoma for treatment,” the source said.

 

He added that efforts were ongoing to track down the perpetrators and prevent further attacks in the area.
