Bandits attack civil protection checkpoint in Katsina-Ala, one killed, two arrested

Armed bandits have attacked a Civil Protection Guard checkpoint at Abaji Town in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, killing one person and injuring two others, security sources confirmed.
The deceased, Aondohemba Kavee, 43, was shot during the attack, which occurred on March 4, 2026, while one Orgase Nyikya and a passerby, Tyolumum Tsenongu, sustained gunshot injuries.
The injured were rushed to Katsina-Ala General Hospital, where they are receiving treatment. The corpse of the deceased has been deposited in the hospital mortuary.
Army troops and other security operatives swiftly responded, cordoning off the area and apprehending two suspects linked to the attack.
Efforts are ongoing to track and arrest other fleeing members of the gang.
