Security operatives have repelled an attempted attack by armed bandits and insurgents on Mangoro village in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State.
Zagazola gathered that the attack occurred on Tuesday at about 2:00 p.m., when a large number of armed assailants stormed the village but were met with stiff resistance from security personnel on special duty.
Despite successfully repelling the attack, the confrontation led to the death of three security operatives, including Inspector Halidu Aminu of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), attached to Mopol 15 Ilorin, as well as two local vigilantes identified as Abubakar Maidangi and Musa Dan-Amarya.
Sources said that during the firefight, the firearm belonging to the late Inspector Aminu was taken away by the fleeing attackers.
Reinforcement teams have since been deployed to the area, and a joint pursuit operation has been lunched.
