Bandits kill CPG member, abduct others in coordinated Zamfara attacks

The Zamfara Police Command has confirmed a series of coordinated attacks by suspected bandits across Zurmi, Tsafe, and Talata Mafara Local Government Areas of the state on April 22, leading to multiple casualties, injuries, and abductions.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the attackers invaded Kaiwa Namba Village at about 5:30 a.m., killing several residents and abducting an undetermined number of persons to an undisclosed location.

Similarly, at about 9:15 a.m., armed bandits on over 100 motorcycles stormed Bawa Ganga Village. Officers of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) on Operation Restore Peace repelled the assault during a gun battle.

Inspector Sunday Joel from MOPOL 10 Bauchi sustained bullet wounds and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Reinforcements were deployed, and normalcy has since been restored.

In a related incident, around 9:00 a.m., armed bandits attacked a moving Golf vehicle between Bobo and Tashar Rogo villages along the Anka-Mayanchi road.

The attackers shot and killed Murtala Hali, a member of the Community Protection Guard (CPG), and the driver, Danjuma Abubakar. Another CPG member, Bashir Kolabe, was abducted. The victims were on their way to Gusau for a court case related to banditry.

Joint security forces have been mobilised to the affected areas to restore order and prevent further violence.
