Suspected armed robbers have killed a police officer along the Kakangi–Gagumi road in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 3:15 p.m. on March 20 when police personnel reportedly encountered the armed suspects along the route.
Troops operating under Operation Fansan Yamma, Sector 1, Sub-sector 3 Tactical Headquarters, Birnin Gwari, were mobilised to the scene following a distress report.
However, the suspects fled the area before the arrival of the troops.
“The troops responded swiftly but the criminals had already escaped,” the source said.
The sources confirmed that one police personnel was killed during the encounter.
Following the incident, troops conducted aggressive patrols to dominate the general area and prevent further attacks, thereby restoring normalcy.
The troops also assisted in evacuating the remains of the deceased officer to a mortuary.
