Bandits Kill Resident in Fresh Attack on Niger Community

Armed bandits have attacked Kango Village in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State, killing one resident and causing panic among locals, intelligence sources told the Zagazola Makama on Tuesday.
The attack, which occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Monday March 3, 2025, saw the gunmen invade the village in large numbers, firing sporadically to instill fear before carrying out their assault.
Sources said that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Sarkin-Pawa quickly mobilized a joint security team, including police tactical units, local vigilantes, Department of State Services (DSS) operatives, and hunters, to respond to the attack.
“Upon reaching the scene, security operatives found one Boyi Kawu, a 35-year-old resident, severely macheted by the attackers.
He was rushed to the Primary Health Clinic in Kuchi for medical attention but was confirmed dead on arrival,” the source said.
His remains have since been deposited at the General Hospital in Sarkin-Pawa for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, security forces have intensified efforts to track down the assailants, with tactical teams combing the area for leads on their whereabouts.
