Benue: troops arrest eight suspected cultists in Makurdi raid

Troops of Sector 1 Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested eight suspected cultists during a raid operation in Wadata area of Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State.
Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 12:45 a.m. on April 5, 2026, following intelligence on suspected criminal activity in the area.
The troops reportedly stormed the location and arrested the suspects during the raid.
The arrested individuals are currently in military custody for preliminary investigation and further action.
Authorities said operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements and curbing cult-related activities in Makurdi and its environs are ongoing.
