Boko Haram Faction Led by Bakoura Attacks ISWAP Camps in Abadam, Kills Top Commanders, 31 fighters

A fierce battle erupted between rival terrorist factions in Borno State on Friday as fighters loyal to the Bakoura-led Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad (JAS) launched a coordinated assault on Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) strongholds in Abadam Local Government Area (LGA).

 

Impeccable sources told Zagazola Makama  that the attack, which began in the early hours of Feb. 14, targeted ISWAP camps at Toumbun Gini and Toumbun Ali. 

 

JAS fighters, reportedly mounted on multiple waterborne vessels, engaged ISWAP elements in an intense battle that lasted until late evening.

 

Sources confirmed that several high-ranking ISWAP commanders, particularly from the Buduma ethnic group, were killed during the attack. Among them was a key figures believed to have played a major role in the massacre of over scores of farmers in Kukawa between Jan. 12 and 13.

 

 

The sources said that JAS fighters inflicted heavy losses on the ISWAP faction after it overran ISWAP positions, seizing weapons and equipment before retreating. Boko Haram killed morethan 31 ISWAP but there could be more,”said the sources. 

 

In a strategic expansion of their offensive, JAS militants from Bokorram Island have reportedly mobilized for a follow up assault on ISWAP concentrations at Gemu and Mallam Karamti. 

 

Zagazola understands that more clashes are imminent, particularly within the Kukawa LGA, as JAS fighters intensify their campaign against ISWAP.
