CDS mourns Buhari, describes him as exemplary leader

 

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has joined millions of sympathisers across the globe to mourn the passing of the former President Muhammadu Buhari.

This is contained in a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, on Sunday in Abuja.

The CDS, in a condolence message on behalf of himself, Service Chiefs and the entire Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), extended heartfelt condolences to the President Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu.

He also consoled the late Buhari’s family, and the nation at large over the loss of a “revered elder statesman, a patriot and a gallant senior officer”.

Musa described the late former president as an exemplary leader whose life was defined by discipline, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria.

He added that President Buhari’s contributions to national development, both in the military and democratic leadership, had left an enduring legacy in Nigeria’s history.

According to the CDS, the late former president has written his name in gold as an incorruptible leader and vanguard of prudence.

“President Buhari was a symbol of dedication to national service.

“He fought tirelessly for the unity and indivisibility of our great country.

“His leadership, courage, and principles will continue to inspire generations of citizens,” he said.

The CDS said that strict discipline, and adherence to rule of law were the defining hallmarks of Buhari’s leadership in both military and democratic governance.

According to him, Buhari’s zero tolerance for indiscipline remains worthy of emulation.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the former President’s soul and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant his family, and the entire nation the fortitude to bear the monumental loss.
