Civilian Injured in Accidental Shooting in Borno

A civilian sustained gunshot injuries following the accidental discharge of a weapon by a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.
Military sources said the incident occurred at about 9:00 a.m. on May 26 in Mandaragirau village.
According to the sources, the CJTF operative, who was deployed at 162 Amphibious Battalion, negligently discharged his personal weapon during the incident.
The sources disclosed that the bullet hit a civilian on the right leg, resulting in injuries.
The victim was immediately evacuated for medical attention, while the CJTF member was apprehended and taken into custody for further investigation and necessary disciplinary action.
