Communal clash leaves one dead, several injured in Garin Daura in Yobe

One person has been killed and several others injured following a clash between herders and residents of Garin Daura in Nangere Local Government Area of Yobe State.
Zagazola gathered that on Feb. 6 at about 3:00 p.m., 18-year-old herder Muhammadu Usman and his cattle were grazing in the area when they were confronted by residents, including Idi Kari and Atori Ado of the Karei Karei community. Resistance by the herders escalated into a violent confrontation.
The clash left several people from both sides injured. Victims from the Shebuwa herders’ community included Hauwa Adamu, Zainabu Shugaba Mohammed, Mutala Mohammed, Usman Abdullahi, and Awaulu Muhammadu. Residents of Garin Daura and the Karei Karei community injured included Ali Haruna, Yusuf Adamu, and Fatsima Ali.
Ali Haruna, 35, a farmer, was confirmed dead at the Specialist Hospital, Potiskum. His body was photographed, coroner forms completed, and subsequently released to relatives for burial according to Islamic rites. The injured were taken to General Hospital, Nangere, for treatment.
One suspect has been arrested, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
