Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 9:10 p.m. on Sept. 23, 2026, when troops of Sector 4, Sub-Sector 41, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), deployed at Yelwa, responded to reports of sporadic shooting in the community.
The troops, upon arrival at the location, discovered two vigilantes, identified as 50-year-old Philibus Maichibi and 60-year-old Pam Alamba, lying dead with gunshot wounds.
The attackers had fled the area before the arrival of the troops.
