General Biu Mourns Jidda Shuwa, Recalls Last Minutes They Shared Before Ex-SSG’s Death on Saturday

The news of Alhaji Usman Jiddah Shuwa, the former Borno SSG’s passing, has left many in deep sorrow and mourning.

Shuwa was a man who lived a life full of purpose, touching the lives of those around him with his kindness and generosity.

Major General Bulama Biu recalled sharing the last moments of Mr. Shuwa before the latter's death at the VIP lounge of Muhammadu Buhari International Airport Maiduguri, where they both had gone to board a flight.

Little did General Bulama nor anyone know that their meeting at the airport would be the final farewell with him.

General Biu, in a tribute, recalled that he exchanged pleasantries with a Shuwa, who was congratulating him on his successful retirement from military service. Little did the retired General, who had seen many wars and perhaps witnessed deaths, know that the angels of death were hovering over the gentleman he was chatting with.

Unknown to General Biu, who had stepped out of the VIP lounge to exchange pleasantries with other acquaintances before boarding his plane, the former SSG suddenly felt ill and was rushed out of the airport.

Despite the efforts of medical personnel who rushed him to the hospital, Mr. Shuwa bowed to Allah's call, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered for years.

“His passing is a reminder that life is fleeting and that death is the one unifying moment that we will all face,” said General Biu, a former GOC 7Div, and Former Commander MNJTF.

On arrival at Abuja, General Bulama said a friend had tried to inform him of Mr. Shuwa's passing, but he initially thought it was a joke.

However, after receiving further confirmation, the reality of Mr. Shuwa's death sets in.

"Allahu akbar! Allahu akbar," he exclaimed, mourning the loss of a gentleman per excellence.

“Mr. Shuwa was known for his humility and passion for serving humanity. He was a peacemaker and a project coordinator, as exemplified in most of their security meetings and other service engagements.

“No doubt, Mr. Shuwa lived a simple and humble life. He was a unique, dedicated, selfless, committed, and dependable ally and will forever be remembered for his kind, philanthropic, and compassionate disposition to his family, friends, and humanity in general.

"You fought a good fight and finished your race as appointed by Allah. May Aljanna Firdausi be your final abode, Amin.”

The former GOC expressed his deepest sympathies and condolences to Mr. Shuwa's Excellency, immediate family members, and the people of Borno. He prayed that Allah would bless all Mr. Shuwa left behind and give them the fortitude to bear this tremendous irreparable loss.

“As we mourn the loss of Alhaji Usman Jiddah Shuwa, let us remember his legacy and strive to emulate the kindness and generosity he showed to others. May his soul rest in peace,” the retired army general said.
