He noted the extensive discussions held during the Forum, which reaffirmed the need for strengthened governance and stabilization frameworks to ensure lasting peace and security in the region.

Governor Buni outlined the need for comprehensive solutions to support displaced persons, including rebuilding infrastructure, restoring livelihoods, and promoting social cohesion.

He also highlighted the importance of socio-economic recovery through investments in trade corridors and agro-pastoral initiatives, which would revitalize local economies. Special emphasis was placed on the inclusion of women and youth in these efforts, as their participation is essential for building resilient communities.

“As we conclude this Forum, it is imperative that we move beyond dialogue to concrete and collective action,” Governor Buni said.

He called on all leaders in the region to ensure the implementation of the resolutions adopted, emphasizing the reinforcement of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and the expansion of community-based security initiatives.

Governor Buni also committed to strengthening cross-border collaboration to stimulate regional integration and economic recovery, and he pledged to work tirelessly with fellow governors, regional stakeholders, and international partners to achieve these goals.

He also thanked the outgoing Chairperson, Her Excellency Ildjima Abdraman, Governor of Hadjer Lamis province, Chad, for her leadership.

Governor Buni’s speech underscored his unwavering commitment to the peace, security, and development of the Lake Chad Basin region.

He concluded by thanking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and support, and he wished delegates a safe journey back to their respective destinations.
