Gunmen Attack Police Escorts, Abduct VIP in Abia

Gunmen ambushed a police escort team along the Azumini-Ndoki road in Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State on Tuesday, shooting a VIP and his driver before abducting them, intelligence sources confirmed the incident to Zagazola Makama
The sources said that Sergent Jude Gubi and two other officers ASP Tanko Natip and Inspector Ernest were assigned to escort one Chief Lawson, a VIP.
The team had traveled to Arochukwu and was returning to Port Harcourt when the attack occurred around 7:00 p.m. at Mkapjekere Ndoki.
He stated that a dark blue Sienna vehicle filled with armed men blocked their convoy, which included a black Land Cruiser (Reg. No. KPR 627 TH) and a white Toyota Hilux (Reg. No. YAB 115 CE).
The gunmen immediately opened fire on the convoy, prompting the police officers to return fire in an attempt to repel the attack.
“The assailants ordered the VIP to enter their vehicle, but he refused. In response, they shot him and his driver before abducting them,” said the source.
As of the time of this report, security forces have intensified efforts to locate and rescue the victims while tracking the whereabouts of the attackers.
