Gunmen kill herder, cart away valuables in Niger attack

Gunmen have killed a 40-year-old man during a night attack on a Fulani settlement in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger state.
Sources said the incident occurred at about 1:00 a.m. on April 20 when unidentified armed men broke into the residence of the victim, Muhammadu Adamu Zaki, at Kpeyi village.
According to the sources, the attackers shot the victim, who was later rushed to the General Hospital in Kuta but was confirmed dead on arrival.
The sources said the assailants carted away two Haojue motorcycles, two mobile phones and a power bank belonging to the deceased.
They added that 18 empty shells of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered at the scene.
The corpse has been deposited at the hospital for autopsy, while investigation is ongoing.
Police authorities said efforts had been intensified to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
