Gunmen Kill Policeman, Local Hunter in Attack on Checkpoint in Taraba

Unknown gunmen have attacked a police checkpoint near the Federal University of Wukari in Taraba State, killing a police corporal and a local hunter.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident, occurred in the early hours of Feb. 25 at about 12:05 a.m.
The sources said that the Nipping Point was manned by ASP Ubong Okon, Cpl Ahmadu Yusuf, and a local hunter, Gaddafi Saidu, when the attackers struck.
During the attack, Cpl Ahmadu Yusuf was fatally shot, and his AK-47 rifle with breech number, along with 30 rounds of ammunition, was taken by the assailants. The local hunter, Saidu, was also shot.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Wukari swiftly mobilized patrol teams to the scene, and the victims were evacuated to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari, where doctors confirmed them dead.
Following the attack, security operatives, including police patrol teams and local hunters, have been mobilized to track down the perpetrators and recover the missing firearm.
The police command has assured the public that efforts are ongoing to bring the attackers to justice.
