IDPs stranded as fire razes Nigerian refugees camp in Gegime, Niger

An unspecified number of Internally Displaced Persons, (IDPs), were injured when a fire suspected to have emanated from a cooking point escalated in Gegime IDPs camp in the Republic of Niger.

 

 

The incident which took place at the early hourz of  Friday, also razed down over one hundred shelters, leaving hundreds of IDPs stranded and displaced from the camp.

 

 

Local Sources told Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad that the IDPs were displaced from Doron Baga in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

 

 

The sources said so far about 400 persons were displaced in the fire outbreak while property including food stuffs were destroyed.

 

 

The incident had further compounded the plight of the IDPs who were currently in dire need of shelter, food and emergency kits.
