ISWAP Attack Leaves Three Dead in Touba Guida, Diffa Region

Suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) launched a deadly attack on the village of Touba Guida in Diffa Region on Friday night, killing three civilians and injuring three others, local and security sources have confirmed.

The assault occurred around 9:00 p.m., with witnesses reporting that the attackers arrived heavily armed, targeting key locations in the village. Among the fatalities were individuals believed to be informants or collaborators with security forces. A shop and a residential building were set ablaze during the raid, further deepening the destruction.

Two of the injured are said to be in critical condition and are receiving treatment at a nearby health facility, a local medical source said.

In response to the incident, military forces reportedly launched an aerial operation early Saturday morning aimed at suspected ISWAP hideouts. However, sources within the security apparatus confirmed the mission did not succeed in neutralising the assailants, who are believed to have fled the area before the strike.

Security conditions remain fragile in Touba Guida and its surroundings, with fears of further attacks as tension persists.
